Written by Ola (Brown) Roby, 1995: Before I was old enough to go to
school, Uncle Ol & Aunt Ghatsey owned farm near us. We saw them a lot,
near so we could walk. The boys and my brother were together a lot,
but being a kid and worse yet girl, had to keep my distance, but they
were so happy, laughing a lot. I thought they were so handsome. Then
Uncle Ol sold and moved to the Locust area. My father was very sad to
see them move. After that we didn't see them so often, for had to ride
horse back or use spring wagon (no cars). They came for Sunday dinner
about once a year, and we visited them about the same. When Uncle
Ol died, I was in school; came from school to funeral. I cried, had no
flowers for Uncle Ol's grave. Aunt Ghatsey said to me, he understands.
That helped me a lot (no place to buy flowers then, came from your
yard or a neighbor). These things I remember. They were two of the
most kind and loving people I've ever known. I'll always remember them
with much love, no matter my age. Ola (Brown) Roby
